Community Bank Mallacoota

Local Banking. Local Impact

Mallacoota Community Enterprises Ltd. (MCEL) is the franchisee of Community Bank Mallacoota. MCEL is a social enterprise run by volunteer directors and is committed to building a stronger, more connected, and resilient community.

Since opening in 2009, through partnerships with local organisations, clubs, and community groups, we have supported projects and activities that have created lasting benefits for Mallacoota and the surrounding district.

Our community investment funding is made possible by the banking business of our customers. Put simply, the more our community banks with us, the more opportunities we have to support our community.

Our point of difference-"Profit with Purpose"

You may not think who you bank with matters, but it does. For our customers, their banking is making a real difference.

Every day our customers help change and save lives, simply by banking with us. In recent times we have assisted the Ambulance Victoria, Mallacoota with replacement batteries for their AEDs, helped fund a dedicated group of women to purchase their own building to support local businesses, given funds to provide tools for our Tool Library and helped keep the iconic Mallacoota WWII Bunker Museum watertight.

Everyday banking with Community Bank Mallacoota is providing all this and more.

The role we play is to feed into prosperity, not off it.

Community Bank Mallacoota is committed to developing partnerships that assist in achieving positive community outcomes.

With these aims in mind MCEL offers the following funding opportunities:

  1. Sponsorships that support local organisations to deliver events and activities through a partnership that benefits both the community and Community Bank Mallacoota.
  2. Grants that support specific projects and initiatives that deliver a clear and lasting benefit to the wider community. Funding may assist with community facilities, equipment, programs, or other projects that strengthen our community.
  3. Donations of up to $2,000 provide one-off assistance to eligible community organisations and initiatives that deliver positive local outcomes.

In return for our support, organisations agree to help promote Community Bank Mallacoota and the important connection between local banking and local investment with appropriate acknowledgement and publicity. – See Community Partnership Obligations

Funding recipients will also be required to complete an acquittal within an agreed period post funding to demonstrate that:

  • funds have been used for their intended purpose,
  • community partnership obligations have been fulfilled, and,
  • the objectives of the event, activities, program, or project have been achieved.
